For Neil Sedaka, breaking up is hard to do. Around here, not so much. It’s swarming season and one of our queens flew the coop due to her hive being a little too crowded. But before our sweetie bolted and broke our hearts, she left some queen eggs behind. Our Beekeeper then created two new hives and put some of those queen eggs in each. Voila! What was two hives are now four. This means less likelihood of more swarming and generally more room for our bees. And because our beekeeper Chris is so damn inventive (insert bee nerd comment here) he created yet another hive made of glass from an old aquarium, to make a fifth. This hive has the added bonus of being see-through so we can watch them at work.
We’re like peeping Tom’s of the Animalia kingdom…get it…cause we’re looking through the window of…forget it.
