Chris has been stung. Not once. Not twice. But ten times since becoming the Metrick System beekeeper. This is despite the fact that beekeepers have been breeding bees to be gentle since the pyramids were being built. But bees being bees, will still sting when pissed. What makes bees all grumpy?
If its rainy, or about to rain
If bees are hungry (flowers are not blooming)
If you bump or shake the hive
If an animal has been trying to get in the hive
If their queen is getting old or sick
If you smell like bananas (they smell like the pheromones of enemies)
You’ve probably seen beekeepers smoke their beehives. This keeps the bees calm because bees communicate by pheromones, and the overpowering smell of smoke keeps one freaked out bee from telling the rest of the hive to freak out. Kinda like that other smoke that gets everyone to mellow…
